Assembling steel buildings is a hassle-free project, if all preparations were done as discussed in previous posts. Steel building kits come with pictures and ready-to-follow detailed instructions. It is important that you pore over them at least once before starting the actual construction.
Ensure that all the needed tools are ready and functioning properly. Also, battery-powered tools should all be fully charged. Identify and locate all the parts shown on the parts list. Should there be any missing parts call the attention of your dealer or supplier as soon as possible. Never start the construction unless everything is in order.
Once the construction process starts, remember to pause frequently to check your progress. Alignment is critical in steel building assembly. Never allow the walls to get out of square. Attaching the roofs will pose a challenge if the whole structure is not aligned properly. As you work, always make sure that everything is level. Make the necessary adjustments at once find any problem. Anchor the steel building only when construction is complete, unless stated in the instructions.
Keep in mind to use the weather stripping aids that usually come with the steel building kit. These are used to seal doors and windows to prevent rain or water from entering the building. Make sure that the weather stripping adheres properly to prevent leaks and corrosion. An additional purpose of weather stripping is energy saving by keeping interior air in, reducing the need for heating or air conditioning.
Steel buildings require lesser maintenance than other types of construction. Once or twice a year, there are some things you need to do to keep your steel building in prime condition:
· Tighten loose screws and bolts.
· Lubricate the doors.
· Check that leaves or snow does not accumulate on the roof.
· Check for scratches and dents. Touch up with paint if you find any to prevent corrosion.
