This is a pity considering the fact that steel buildings offer you so much in terms of variety and customization. In fact, it is this choice that can at times confuse people. It is therefore important that you choose the right type of building.

First you need to answer the question of what the need of the building is going to be for you. This means drafting all the qualities that you would want the building to possess after a careful analysis of what exactly you want the building for. This definition of needs is important to narrow down your choice and selecting the right kind of steel buildings for you.

This is an important thing to keep in mind because the features that your steel building is going to possess should depend on what you want the building for. Thus if you want the building to serve as a garage, you will have one kind of need and if you want it as a storehouse, you will have another, even though these may be very closely related. The better you are able to define the purpose of the building, the better your steel building is finally going to turn out.

Apart from the functionality, one other important parameter to look for is the size. Do remember that everything seems small – no matter how big a steel building you may have built, it will still seem small! Therefore you should get down to practical level basics to decide what size of the building is going to be suitable for you. A lot of people end up with the wrong sized building, so do give adequate thought to the size of the building before you order for one.

By keeping these in mind, you will be better able to build the perfect steel building that you always wanted.

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Shelter has been a primary requirement of human life all through history. From finding naturally built shelters to creating his own housing, man has come a long way in the quest to find the ultimate shelter and housing experience. There have been several drastic changes in housing trends, and the most recent one is the use of steel buildings. Here is a short history of evolution of steel buildings over time.

Metal has always been known for its strength, durability and ease of molding. Steel provided the best housing solution, but remained uneconomical to be used on a large scale. The first steel buildings came up in 1700s when the British experimented with this type of building structures mainly for the fireproof property of steel.

By 1800s, steel became increasingly common for portable housing that was especially useful for the worker class, the gold rush workers and pioneers and all mobile workers in the era of industrial revolution.

The late 1800s and early 1900s saw the real use of steel as the main structural component of buildings. This happened with the beginning of skyscraper era before the War. This was the first time steel was used in such a high standing structure. In fact the success of skyscrapers was based on finding a material as desirable as steel.

After the World War – II, steel was increasingly being used to create homes for the millions left homeless by the war. Steel was able to provide shelter to millions of people because steel houses are simple to make and are inexpensive, so people could afford them.

Today, the next revolution in steel manufacturing and housing was in the use of prefab steel structures. These are able to provide the best housing and building solutions for a variety of needs. They are inexpensive and customizable, which is a far cry from their counterparts a couple of decades ago.
